History of HEPA air purifiers

Indoor air pollution causes many serious diseases. We see many people around us suffering from asthma and various allergies. Asthma air purifiers and allergy air purifiers are made especially for the people suffering from these diseases. Indoor air pollution is increasing day by day. Today air cleaners and air purifiers are well known and are used in almost all homes and offices. But let us try to understand when this idea of using air cleaners came into existence.

You might be in an assumption that using air cleaner is a new craze. But in reality different types of air purification systems are used for more than 200 years. Since the 1800’s, scientists all over the world have been working on various methods to make our air purer. Today many types of indoor air purifiers are available but the safest of them is HEPA air purifier. Formerly HEPA filters were used by soldiers for protection from radioactive particles on the battlefield. But they were not effective in fighting with radioactive particles. Later on studies proved that HEPA filters are best for the protection from chlorine gas, mustard gas, and flame throwers. In the year 1960 Department of Energy officially standardized the qualifications and the name "High Efficiency Particulate Air”. Department of Energy states that HEPA filters remove at least 99.97% of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria and any airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns at 85 litres per minute.

The products by Oxynet Solutions are made using HEPA filters. While buying an air purifier for home, make sure that they have HEPA filters.
